Growers are twice as likely to produce over 60-bushel soybeans using NK® Brand Soybeans
Golden Valley, Minn. - December 21, 2007 - A new growing season is fast approaching, and soybean growers know that selecting the right soybean seed now has the greatest impact on what the yield monitor reads next fall.
In 43,000 head-to-head field trials from 2005 to 2007, leading NK Brand® soybeans with the Roundup Ready® trait were twice as likely to produce yields of 60 bushels or more per acre. In 2007 trials, NK® Brand soybean lines continued to outperform competitive products, including Pioneer® and Asgrow® varieties, in more than 76 percent of the yield comparisons.
"These results highlight the importance of variety selection to reach new levels of yield potential," says Steve Knodle, NK Soybean brand manager for Syngenta. "NK Brand soybeans are the essential starting point. The yield results across the soybean growing geographies have been very good even under some adverse growing conditions that growers experienced in 2007. Many growers reported seeing their farms' best yields. We're excited about the results our soybean growers will continue to see in 2008.
"I pay close attention to test plot results and over the past few years, NK Brand soybeans have become a top competitor here, as well as in other areas," said Craig Miller, who farms near Geneseo, Ill. "In 2007, I saw tremendous yields with NK, averaging 65 to 67 bushels per acre, which is very good considering most soybeans in my area were yielding in the 50s. And according to my yield monitor, some parts of the field were hitting yields in the 70s and 80s."
NK Brand soybeans offer top-performing yields in all maturity groups with superior soybean cyst nematode and sudden death syndrome resistance, and proven agronomic packages to combat regional pests, including Phytophthora root rot, iron deficiency chlorosis, frog-eye leaf spot and white mold.
"Syngenta continually grows its investment in soybean research, and it shows in our diverse portfolio of elite genetics," said Gene Kassmeyer, head of Syngenta Seeds soybean product line. "We're working hard to help growers maximize yield potential on every soybean acre."
NK Brand soybeans are available through Garst, Golden Harvest and NK Seeds local dealers and retailers, and can be delivered through multiple bulk packaging options, including the TruBulk® System and Q-Bit® containers.
