Corn harvest

The USDA crop progress report shows 90% of the corn planted this spring has been harvested. That's still below the four-year average of 93% at this point in the year.

In the top five corn producing states, Illinois has the most completed with 100%. Kansas (92%); Minnesota (93%) and Iowa (91%) are closing in. Nebraska gained ground this week with 88% complete.

Two Midwest states are struggling with weather issues to get the harvest complete. Wisconsin farmers report 80% complete and North Dakota producers say they only have 91% taken off.
