The finish line for #harvest18 is nearing

Only one state included in the crop progress report shows the soybean and corn harvest complete.

Corn harvest

The USDA crop progress report shows 94% of the corn planted has been harvested. That’s below the four-year average of 96%.

In the top five corn producing states, Illinois producers say they are finished with harvest with the report showing 100% complete. Kansas (94%); Minnesota (96%) and Iowa (96%) are closing in. Nebraska gained ground this past week with 94% complete.

The state struggling the most with harvest is North Dakota with only 80% of the harvest complete followed by Michigan and Pennsylvania at 82%. Ohio producers say 86% of the crop is off, while Wisconsin is gaining ground at 88% complete.

 

 

Soybean harvest

The latest crop progress report shows 94% of the soybean crop harvested. That’s still down from the four-year average of 98% for this week.

In the top five soybean producing states, Illinois is finished with harvest with producers saying 100% is off the field. Minnesota farmers report 99% of the soybeans harvested followed by Iowa (98%), Nebraska (99%) and North Dakota (94%).

Soybean harvest has caught up with the corn harvest with only two states in the Midwest struggling with less than 90% of the harvest complete. Missouri farmers say 85% of the soybean crop is off the fields followed by Michigan at 89%.
